Warwick Castle – Medieval Wedding

Once upon a whimsical summer’s day, beneath the grandeur of Warwick Castle, I found myself immersed in a wedding like no other. I’m talking full on fancy dress, owls and sword fights. Sometimes I can’t believe this is my job.

Welcome to a Wedding at Warwick Castle.

I’ve been fortunate to capture some truly unique weddings in my career, but I have to say, the recent Wedding at Warwick Castle definitely took the cake (or should I say, the mead?). The entire wedding party, from the bride and groom to the guests, dressed up in medieval costumes for the occasion. We had fair maidens and Knights, court Jesters and musicians. On arrival, the guests were amusingly equipped with coconuts for hooves, in a nod to Monty Python’s comedic charm, and they galloped up the the castle. I wasn’t sure all the guests were going to be on board, but they absolutely smashed it. I laughed a lot.

Warwick Castle is a stunning 11th-century castle located in the heart of Warwickshire, England. The castle has been beautifully preserved and restored over the centuries. Being open to the public during the day meant this was going to be my first night time wedding. The castle has several event spaces, but the highlight for this wedding was undoubtedly the Great Hall.

Knights,Mead and Jesters

Once the bride and groom had made their promises to each other, made us all cry, and made their way outside, we had a confetti shot. The bride tossed the bouquet and the guests were welcomed in to the castle for drinks and canapés. There was a surprise visit from some owls and inside the court jester entertained everyone as they downed their mead. Everyone managed to sign the guest book with a quill and Ink which looked incredible.

The Great Hall is one of the most impressive spaces in the castle, and it was the perfect backdrop for this medieval-themed wedding. The hall is adorned with suits of armor, medieval tapestries, and a magnificent fireplace that served as the focal point for the wedding breakfast.  The wedding truly felt like we had all stepped back in time. When the guests were called in for the first time it was pretty special.

Warwick Castle Wedding Entertainment

Amidst laughter and cheer, the couple were entertained to a real life sword fight, a delightful prelude to their wedding breakfast. The clashing of blades echoed through the castle’s courtyard, adding a touch of adventure to the celebrations. The banquet looked fit for a king and you can’t help but think of all what has gone before. What famous names from history dined within these walls? I’m not sure I ever thought I’d see any of this at a wedding, but ,here we are, and I absolutely love it!

Wedding Ceremony at Warwick Castle

A wedding at Warwick castle is like no other that’s for sure. It may not be everyone first choice of venue but wow did it look good. Feeling pretty lucky right now. I would highly recommend it for anyone looking for something slightly different. The team are amazing and really helpful. The food is delicious and the venue is epic. I can’t wait to go back again.
