I often get asked the same questions by my potential clients and I think I need a new page on my website specifically to answer these. But for now, I thought I would get my wedding photography FAQs down in a top ten to help answer some of them.
- How long have you been a wedding photographer?
As a photographer, I have been capturing special moments for people for over 10 years. I used to have a studio but much preferred the excitement of weddings. I have a passion for telling love stories through my photographs and am always excited to work with new couples to create beautiful images.
- Do you have a specific style or approach to wedding photography?
Yes, I have a unique style that blends candid, natural shots with a touch of posed portraiture. “I’m a collector of moments from your authentic love story”
I would call myself a documentary wedding photographer. My goal is to capture the genuine emotion and beauty of your special day, while also creating stunning, artful images that you’ll treasure for a lifetime. My approach is to document and collect your moments as they happen rather that stage the entire day.

How do you work with couples to plan their wedding photography?
I believe in building a strong relationship with my couples to understand their vision and style. It’s important that I make sure they understand mine. We both need to have the same vision. I have a process I follow, from initial enquiry right through to delivery of their gallery. Offering a range of packages and options helps work out what my couples are looking for. We’ll work together to plan the perfect wedding photography timeline, from the getting ready shots to the reception, ensuring that all of your special moments are captured. However my advices is always the same, don’t over plan every moment based around photos. The images I capture are 90% candid shots and don’t require meticulous planning. Relax and enjoy. Trust that the best photos are unplanned.
4. How many photos do we receive?
Every wedding is different and I don’t like to give an exact number but always have a minimum of 500 for a full day wedding.
5. Can we provide a list of specific shots we want?
Absolutely! I encourage couples to provide me with a list of must-have shots, However. I do limit this to 10. Once I build a relationship with my couples they understand why. The conveyor belt (of one in and one out) is no fun for anyone. It’s a sure fire way of making your guests feel awkward and just a box ticking exercise. Your wedding day goes by so fast you want to spend the time enjoying it. I will capture much nicer photos in the spur of the moment. By all means lets get parents and siblings in for photos, bridesmaids and groomsmen. Just don’t spend a big chunk of your day in formal line ups that look forced. 10 shots helps to ensure that you get the photos you want, while also allowing me the freedom to capture candid moments throughout the day.
Most of the couples that book me are leaning towards a more modern approach to weddings so their photo choices tend to reflect this. If you want to spend hours just getting group shots of family that are staged, I may not be the photographer for you. I can recommend some amazing photographers that may still do this.
Wedding photography FAQS part 2
- How long will it take to receive our photos?
I understand that you’ll be eager to see your photos, so I work hard to deliver your images as quickly as possible. Previews are normally out within 48 hours, ready for your socials. Most couples receive their edited images within 6-8 weeks of their wedding day. I offer a range of turnaround times to suit different budgets and preferences, so be sure to discuss this with me during our planning process.
- Can we post the photos on social media?
Of course! I love seeing my couples share their photos on social media and am always happy to grant permission for you to do so. I do ask that you credit me as the photographer when sharing the images online.
- Do you offer engagement/ pre wedding sessions?
Absolutely, I offer engagement sessions as part of wedding packages. These sessions are a great opportunity for couples to get comfortable in front of the camera and practice relaxing and generally ignoring me before the big day. They’re also a lot of fun! If you’re interested in an engagement or pre wedding session I’d highly recommend it. If not we can just do coffee.

Do you have insurance?
This is a big one. YES! Safety is always a top priority for me, which is why I am fully insured to protect both myself and my clients. I am happy to provide proof of insurance upon request. Venues can sometimes ask for these and I am happy to send direct to them if it helps.
- Do you have backup equipment?
Yes, I always come prepared with backup equipment to ensure that your photos aren’t compromised in case of any technical issues. I have a range of high-quality cameras and lenses, as well as backup lighting and other equipment to ensure that your photos are always top-notch. The stress of attending a wedding with out backup equipment would be way to much for me!
