I’m back with another incredible wedding to share with you, and this one was an absolute dream. Tom and Jen’s wedding at Rockingham Castle was nothing short of magical. Well it is a castle after all.
Glimpse into History
Before we dive into the wedding day itself, let me take you on a quick journey through time. Rockingham Castle, nestled in the heart of Northamptonshire, is a true gem. Its history dates back to the 11th century, and was built on the instruction of William the Conqueror, making it one of England’s most ancient and historic estates. It is family owned and has been for many years, making it feel warm and welcoming. Capturing the love story of Tom and Jen against this historic backdrop; it’s like stepping into a fairy tale! I had such a good day. Sunburnt shoulders were totally worth it!
Bees knees
Now, let’s talk about the bee-themed decor! Tom and Jen’s love for these little winged creatures added a sweet and whimsical touch to their wedding. From bee-shaped table centerpieces to honey-colored accents. It was a little touch of colour to contract with the dark interior of the caste walls.
A wedding at Rockingham caste wouldn’t be complete with out a walk in the highly manicured gardens. We took a stroll to walk off some of the 3 course meal we had nose dived into! Picking the early evening for couple shots meant that the harsh midday sun had disappeared, and was replaced with some soft hazy light.

TOM AND JEN IN THEIR OWN WORDS
I’m Tom, I’m a chef and I can fly helicopters, Jen is an Anti social behaviour officer and former police officer. We met at a friends wedding, I was really drunk and she was really impressed, clearly, we have a mutual love of animals and life so we got on really well.
Our vision for the day was to be as unique as possible and just a good day for us, our family and friends as we hardly see anyone any more, so we wanted to have fun.
We came across Rockingham castle by accident. Jen had been looking at and suggesting venue after venue for a small wedding, and my face apparently just didn’t look interested until she mentioned Rockingham castle. So we went to have a look and fell in love with the place! Booked it there and then! We were never going to go anywhere else really.
Highlight of my day was seeing Dot (our daughter), then Jen walk down the aisle. Absolutely beautiful, the both of them, and I can’t believe I managed to persuade her to marry me!
3 words to describe our day
Full of Love
Being photographed all day was surprisingly easy, thanks to you Sarah! I didn’t really notice it most of the time and I didn’t feel anxious about any part of the staged photos either as I’d expected I would, so thank you so so much again! I knew from the moment we met you, that you’d make it fun and easy for us, and you blended into the guests seamlessly if that makes sense?
Advice for future couples
Just have fun with it and do it for you and not what other people want from your wedding. Pick people to work with that make your life easier as well. We did really well on that front, with Sarah on Photography, Richie and Emma at Rockingham Castle, as well as melody Cakes, the flowers etc. None of it was difficult and that’s down to the professionals.
Also, if you can, get someone else to pay for it!
